News Item Text
JAKARTA: Seven people were killed in a collision between a bus, a car and a truck on Dipenogoro street at 10:35 p.m. last night. The dead were all the passengers of the car. The police believed the car had been trying to overtake the bus when it was struck by a truck coming from the opposite direction. The driver of the car might not be using his lights, as the truck driver said he did not see the car approaching.
The police said the car should not have tried to pass the bus, since overtaking is not allowed on Dipenogoro street. In addition, the police report that the car, a small Japanese car, should not have been carrying more than five people. If the passengers had brought their identity cards, the police would have identified the names of the victim easily.

  1. My Adolescence

I had my adolescence when I was thirteen.

It started with acne that showed up on my face. It was very annoying. It lowered my self-esteem and I was embarrassed to come out of my house and play with friends.

Fortunately, my Mum gave me a good medicine. In three weeks, the acnes started to vanish although those showed some black spots in my face.

That was my bad experience with adolescence, though there were still lots of good experience too.

  2. My First Experience to Ride Motorcycle
    ditulis oleh Resdwitarini

One day, when I was ten years old, my father bought an old motorcycle. That was " Honda 75". I think it was small light object and easy to ride it. I persuaded my father to teach me to ride " Honda 75 ". Firstly, my father refused my request and promised that he would teach me two or three years later, but I still whimpered. Finally, my father surrendered and promised to teach me.

He began to teach me riding the motorcycle around a field in my village. My father was very patient to give me some directions. I was very happy when I realized my ability to ride a motorcycle. " Yes, I can ".

One day later, when I was alone at home, I intended to try my riding ability. So, myself tried bravely. All ran fluently in the beginning, but when I was going back to my home and I passed through a narrow slippery street, I got nervous. I lost my control and I fell to the ditch.

After that, I told my father about the last accident. I imagined my father would be angry and never let me ride again. But the reality is exactly on the contrary, my father was very proud of me. He just gave me some advices and since that accident, I got my father's permission to ride motorcycle.

  3. A Page from A Girl's Diary
    ditulis oleh Pratama Lysa Hapsari

    Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

It was takbiran night. It was also my birthday, and nothing happened. Or I had thought nothing would happen, but I was wrong.

That night, I was watching television with my family when I heard someone lit fireworks in my front yard. I peeped through my window glass but could see nothing. It was very dark outside. Then I thought it had to be my cousins who lit the fireworks. Then I plopped down on my sofa again and tried to concentrate on the television since my mind raced with disappointment that no one gave something special on my birthday.

I shrugged, it was almost the end of the day and I became pessimist. Five minutes later my mobile beeped. It was a text from my friend asking me to come out. Wondering what was going on, I grabbed my jacket and hurried to the front door. I was surprised to see her bring a bag full of firework and fire drills. Next I was surprised to see my other friend come out from the darkness. She brought a beautiful birthday cake on her hands. Oh my God! I shrieked. Then they gave the cake to me who was too stunned to say anything. I realized I was blushing furiously because my whole family was watching. Not to mention my neighbors too!

A plain day, or I thought it was before, turned out to be one of the greatest moment in my life. I didn’t even know how to describe what I felt. Happy was the simplest word.

  4. My Adventure at Leang-Leang Cave
On Sunday, my parents, my best fruend Novi, and I visited a cave at Maros called Leang-leang . It was my first time to visit the cave, better yet, my best friend came to visit it with me!
The cave was famous for its primitive cave wall paintings which were some hand prints and wild boar paintings. The cave and its surroundings was turned into a national park, so it was taken care of. My parents took a rest in a small hut for visitors of the park, while Novi and I adventured around the cave with a guide. We had to climb some metal stairs to get to the cave, because the cave was embedded into a small mountain. Next stop was a place where some seashells littered the ground and some were actually piled into a big mound! The guide said that these piles of seashells are called kjokkenmoddinger, or kitchen trash. The humans who lived here ate the shells and dumped the left overs in their 'kitchen'. The last place was a small museum where they have skeletons of the humans who lived in the caves. The skeletons along with some roughly made jewelry and weapons were placed inside glass cases for display. The walls of the museum were adorned with photographs taken when they did an excavation there.
After a quick lunch with Novi and my parents, we decided it was time to go back home. We really had the time of our lives!

My Rush Time as a Journalist

I usually woke up at eight o'clock a.m. and went to the Press Center to check the daily schedule of briefings and press conferences. It was usually held by the United Nation officials or disaster mitigation team.
It was challenging to visit different refugee camps to find soft stories, human interest stories. After that I went back to the Press Center to cover the press conferences of the day.
It was heart breaking when I saw these survivors fight for food and secondhand clothing. Unfortunately as they said, the food and clothing were limited and inadequate. Emerging to glaring, fool noon, it was time to go back to Press Center to write stories and race against time. I was always fearing that the internet would come crushing down.
After everything was done, only then I remembered to eat. Most times, I only ate once a day because I always had to rush and again it was difficult to find food. I had to travel quite far. I needed to spend a 30 to 45 minutes by car just to find fresh food.

  5. Visisting Bali
There were so many places to see in Bali that my friend decided to join the tours to see as much as possible. My friend stayed in Kuta on arrival. He spent the first three days swimming and surfing on Kuta beach. He visited some tour agents and selected two tours. The first one was to Singaraja, the second was to Ubud.
On the day of the tour, he was ready. My friend and his group drove on through mountains. Singaraja is a city of about 90 thousands people. It is a busy but quiet town. The street are lined with trees and there are many old Dutch houses. Then they returned very late in the evening to Kuta.
The second tour to Ubud was a very different tour. It was not to see the scenery but to see the art and the craft of the island. The first stop was at Batubulan, a center of stone sculpture. There my friend watched young boys were carving away at big blocks of stone. The next stop was Celuk, a center for silversmiths and goldensmiths. After that he stopped a little while for lunch at Sukawati and on to mass. Mass is a tourist center
My friend ten-day-stay ended very quickly beside his two tour, all his day was spent on the beach. He went sailing or surfboarding every day. He was quiet satisfied.

  6. On Saturday night, we went to the Town Hall. It was the last day of the year and a large crowd of people had gathered under the Town Hall clock. It would strike twelve in twenty minutes’ time. Fifteen minutes passed and then, at five to twelve, the clock stopped. The big minute hand did not move. We waited and waited, but nothing happened. Suddenly someone shouted,”It’s two minutes past twelve! The clock has stopped!”
I looked at my watch. It was true. The big clock refused to welcome the New Year. At that moment, everybody began to laugh and sing.

  7. Last week, my father went to Bali for a business. He asked us to enjoy staying in the hotel and playing on the beach while he was having his business meeting. We stayed in a hotel near a beach. When we arrived in the hotel, my father talked to the receptionist to get a room. The clerk at the receptionist desk gave my father the key of my room and porter carried our bag along the corridor to our room.

We got a big room on the third floor. The room over looked the sea. From our room we could see waves breaking over the rocks. The beach was not crowded at that time. We saw children digging in the sand looking for the sea-shells. Some boys were kicking a ball. Some groups of people were sitting in the desk chairs, lying on the sand under brightly colored umbrella.

We didn’t waste much time in our room. We went to the beach to swim to play ball, to dig in sand to look for sea-shell, and to lie under the sun. we really enjoyed the activity.

  8. My sister and I went to see a film last night. It was an American movie called The Lost Flight. It showed how people can quickly change when they have to look after themselves in the jungle. It was an interesting film about a plane which crashed on a small empty island in the Pacific Ocean.
Although the passengers were safe, nobody knew where the plane had crashed. So the passengers had to learn how to hunt for food in the jungle and how to catch fish from the sea to eat. After a few weeks, the passengers were eating raw fish and meat.
After they had been on the island for two months, three of the men made a boat and sailed away to find help. But their boat sank and they were drowned.
The film ended without saying whether the passengers were rescued or not. But my sister and I enjoyed the film.

  9. My mother got me ready for school then I had to wait for her to brush my hair and place every strand
    in just the perfect position.
I had to show her my shoes that I had cleaned the night before and my school bag had to be neatly put on my shoulder before I could
get near the door. Only after my mother was totally satisfied, would I be allowed to rush out of the frontdoor.
I would leave home at 8 am on the dot and make my way down the lane. After a walk of about 700 metres I would be able to see the tall steeple of the
    school.
The playground would be full in the summer and the noise would make me want to rush into the yard and get into a good game of football before the bell
    went.

Then, she called Adel who had that motorcycle which blocked it up. After that, her friend who had that motorcycle helped her. Finally, she could move her motorcycle and rode it to go to campus.

  11. Last week my friend and I were bored after three weeks of holidays, so we rode our bikes to Pasir Kencana Beach, which is only five kilometres from where I live. When we arrived at the beach, we were surprised to see there was hardly anyone there.

After having a quick dip in the ocean, which was really cold, we realized one reason there were not many people there. It was also quite windy. After we bought some hot chips at the takeaway store nearby, we rode our bikes down the beach for a while, on the hard, damp part of the sand. We had the wind behind us and, before we knew it, we were many miles down the beach.

Before we made the long trip back, we decided to paddle our feet in the water for a while, and then sit down for a rest. While we were sitting on the beach, just chatting, it suddenly dawned on us that all the way back, we would be riding into the strong wind.

When we finally made it back home, we were both totally exhausted! But we learned some good lessons that day.

  12. On Sunday, I and my best friend, Sari, visited Semirang Waterfall in Ungaran. It was the first time for me to visit the waterfall.

When we arrived at the hill, I felt so fresh and I could enjoy the scene. The air was so pure and all I could see only green and green.

In Ungaran, we took a little bit trekking to find Semirang Waterfall. It was too bad for me because the distance to see the waterfall was too far.

After taking so far distance, we found Semirang Waterfall. What a beautiful waterfall. We enjoyed the nice water in the rain forest surrounding the waterfall.

Hearing the sound of falling water made me peace and relax. It was also excellent drowning out background sound. Playing with the water made me feel so happy.

Finally, the time was over. It was time for us to go home. It was an unforgettable moment. I really enjoyed it.

  13. Last Monday was a busy day for me. I spent my time to do a lot of activities from college to my home.
First, at the morning, I did my presentation's assignment with my partner, she was Nurhidayah. It took 3 hours. And then we went to the campus for joining lecture. But, the lecturer said that our presentation would be started next week. It made us disappointed. The class was finished at 12.30.
After that, I had to go home because my grandmother was in a bad condition. She was hospitalized. So, it was a must for me to back home at that time. When I got there, there were so many members of my family. There were about 10 people. My aunt, my niece, my uncle and some of my cousins. We all hoped that our grandmother would get better soon.
Those activities made my day busy.

  14. One day, my sister said to me that she really wanted to go to the beach. So I promised her that the next day we would go to Maron beach in Semarang.
The next day, we prepared many things in the morning. We brought some foods and beverages, such as fried rice, chocolate wafers, potato chips, water and orange juice. Before going to the beach, I ask my boyfriend, Kiki, to join us going to the beach. He agreed to join and he came to my house. After that, we went to the beach. We went there by motorbike. It took 25 minutes to arrive there. Then, we bought tickets in the entrance gate. Before swimming, we changed our clothes first. We swam there for more than one hour. We felt so tired that we decided to eat the foods that we had brought. Next, my boyfriend and I created a very big sand castle, while my sister continued swimming. After that, we decided to go home because it was getting dark.
On the way home, we still felt hungry. So we stopped at a Javanese restaurant to eat something. I ordered gudeg, while my boyfriend and my sister ordered rames rice. After finished eating, we paid our bills. Then, we went home. We arrived at home at 6 o’clock and we were absolutely exhausted.

That was a very exhausting day, but I felt so happy that I could have a vacation with my sister and my boyfriend.

  15. One Christmas in 2007, I was joining a final test try out at school. It was held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. One of my schoolmates, Rini, asked me for accompanying her to the bus stop. When we arrived there, suddenly the heavy rain fell down from the sky. Rini suggested me to go home soon while she was entering the bus.

It was still raining when I was home. The rain did not stop and became bigger when the night had come. People were standing in front of their house, hoping that the flood would not come. In the middle of the night, I got news that South Purwodadi had been drowned

  16. MY BUSY HOLIDAY
    Ditulis oleh Rise Aditya Anggraeni
On April 16th, 2010, I thought this would be a great holiday for me because that was the holy day for Hindhu people . I was so tired about the study, so I guessed this time I could get full refresh anyway. However, the fact said the other way.
First like an ordinary daughter, I had to get up early morning helping my mother, of course after I prayed. Then I did my chores, cleaned up my room, and spread out my bed under the sun ray. I was really in danger if my mom knew that my room was messy. So, I made it as soon as possible. Second, my aunts called me in the afternoon. I did not meet them for a long time, that was the way I kept for hours to talk with them. After that, unpredictable my neighbor visited me. She asked my help finishing her homework. At last, the time was running and I just remembered that I had a lot of homework. I got mad, confused and regretful why I did not check my homework before. Therefore, I did my homework until 2:00 a.m. the next morning.

I did not feel this was holiday instead of I had to work hard and got a long ship with my homework.

  17. Summer after high school, after graduated from junior high school 5FC had made. This is the lovely name which is created by the leader of the gang, who is named Patrick. He met 4 other members so unexpectedly who were named, Mojo, Bubble, Buttercup, and Blossom.

It was a unique friendship ever known. We grew together from the worst condition to the best. It was about the time, which we came and doing the things together how we solve intelligently. Patrick was a smart boy in Senior High School, he got good marks on his exam. The Mojo was the lucky and ignorant boy. He didn’t smart, but everything was near him was simple was he wanted. Bubble was a strong leadership as girl, she did many thing in her own ways. Buttercup was spoiled. She was nice, but so innocent to do the best ways for her problem, at least she could decided to speak what must be distinct.

Blossom was a little bite ignorant, she was vicious as the first time everyone met her. But she was kind as well. They five person was being tight in 9 years. It’s hard to grow together in different major of faculty, different university, and different condition.

If everything was as clear as in the fairy tales it is not true. They also got the big problem as human beings as well. In the third years of senior high school there was some falling in love between one person to another person. The others got angry and the friendship was broken. It was okay for getting calm each others.

But this condition taught them that it was so silly to break the friendship just because of the love of them. They thought twice to replace it. And they got the way how to be as moist as it cleared faster.

In some condition, that economical problem which happened to someone was disturb the car on the way. The Mojo now was unlucky person. He got many problems of life. He was angry with others why they didn’t help him in the worst condition. He got false. They tried to help him, but it was a few. In his own mind they were so unimportant just because they couldn’t help much. But he realized soon that not how much money should they spend on the floor. But how strong and much they were for him to solve the problem even not only money spent.

This taught them always that things we got together is just because they were different. But the differences of things they had were completed each others in the ways they run. At least 5FC will be Forever until the time closed.

  19. My Best Friend, Haruka

In Senior high school, I had best friend from Jepang. Her name was Haruka. She was beautiful, smart, and low profile. Because of that, many people loved her, included of me. Even though she was from foreign country that considered by many students she would be arrogant, but Haruka was different. She was a good girl.

Haruka and I became good friend each other. I was really glad having friend like her, although she was from rich family and I wasn’t. She enjoyed having a friend like me and there was no problem, for her, to share everything to me. For the example, when she had something, like knowledge, foods, or even gifts, she would give to me. Then, I did the same thing like her, if my mom made a food in which my mom usually made a traditional food, I would give that food to Haruka. We ate together, we had fun together.

One day, I was invited by Haruka’s family to attend Haruka’s birthday. I came to the building where she held her birthday party. I was very surprised when I looked to the building. It was very luxurious and the entry had a quite beautiful decoration. I felt afraid to go inside. So, I only waited on the outside of the building, more precisely, I stood by the fence. After several minutes, I saw Haruka went out from the building. Oh my god!, she saw me. Soon after that, she came to me and asked why I did not come in. I did not answer, I only smiled. Then, she said to me that her birthday would not be started without me. I was very touched in hearing that and I hugged her. Then, Haruka and I came in. Many guests had arrived and suddenly they looked at Haruka and me. I was very shy. Then, the party started. Before that, Haruka’s parents introduced me to the guests that I was the best friend of her daughter.

Furthermore, the thing that made me surprise that Haruka’s family wanted me follow them to holiday in Japan next month. Off course I want because it must be interesting experience. Many people gave applause to me and Haruka’s family. I was so touched and on that place I wanted to cry. I was fortunate having friend like Haruka and knew Haruka’s family well.

  20. Going To Sanur Beach

Last holiday our family went to Bali to have picnic. We went there by plane. We were in Bali for six day, so we had to stay in a hotel because we didn’t have any relatives there. We stayed in Bali beach hotel near Sanur beach.

When we came to the hotel, we didn’t come to our room directly but we have to check in first. We were received by the receptionists who were friendly and kind, and then we were helped by a room boy who took us to our rooms.

On the second day we visited Sanur beach. We just took a walk because the beach is in front of the hotel. We walked along the seashore, played water and sand. Actually we also wanted to swim in the beach but the lifeguard didn’t allow us.

Besides doing many activities we also watched some foreign tourist’s activities. They were lying on the beach, while others were having massage or surfing. When we felt tired, we took a rest to have some meals and drinks; and at 2.0 p.m. We went to the hotel. It was tiring but we were happy.

    An international day

Yesterday at my school, we had an international day. We had performances, food stalls, displays, farrle tickets draw, and some of us ere dressed in costumes.

We started day of with performances but the one I like the best was he one on fourth grade. We played games. The performance I was in was Labamba. Straight after performances e had or lunch. Here were food stalls. Hey came from Australia, Asia, Arab, and Greece.

Everyone had a job. These people were from sixth grade. I did my job after I had lunch. My job was to sell international day books.

We had displays in the hall. These displays were good but I didn’t get to see them. Their displays came from a lot of countries, there were also trash and reassure stalls where they sold toys. The school got these things by asking the children to bring them in.

Although I didn’t win anything, the international day was still fun.

    (Tiga Anak Babi)
Once upon a time, there were three little pigs who lived together with their parents. Mother was Looking to his three children until they grew up, asked her children to live independently and built their own homes. Mother said before they went “Be careful, sons, because there is wolves out there.”

Throughout the summer, they explored the woods, played games and had fun. No one is don’t like three little pigs. They are easy to get along with anyone. Wherever they went, they were warmly welcomed. But when summer was almost finished, they realized that they needed a home to face the fall and winter. They finally discussed what they would do but the three pigs had a different opinion.

The first little pig who believed that he would built a hut of hay.

“It will only requires one day,” he said.

But the two of his brother disagreed because the house was made of straw very fragile, but the first little pig did not listen.

Not as the first little pig, the second pig found a plank of wood as a material to make his home. It would taken two days to make a house of wood, wooden home more robust than a house made of straw.

But the third little pig did not like a house of wood. The third little pig argued that it took time, patience and hard work to build a house that was strong enough to stand out of the wind, rain, and snow, and most importantly, can protect from wolves. And finally the third little pig decided to make a house of bricks.

One day had been changed, and the third little pig houses began to take form, brick by brick. From time to time, his brother visited him and laughed at him.

“Why do you work so hard? Why do not you just come and play with us?” But the third little pig was refusing to say “no”.

“I have to finish my home first. This house must be strong and sturdy. And then I’ll come and play!” The third little pig said.

One time, when the first little pig back, there was wolf footprints discovered near his home. At once he went into his house made of straw for shelter. And indeed there was a wolf coming and wanting to eat.

“Come out little pig!” cried wolf. “I want to talk to you!”

“No! I will stay here!” The first little pig replied with a small voice.

“I’ll make you out!” The wolf growled angrily. The wolf then inflating his chest and took a deep breath. Then he blew it with all his strength, precisely in the direction of the straw house. And pig belonging to the first straw that was thrown, falling scattered.

Stunned by the cleverness, the wolf did not realize that the little pig had crept under the haystack, and ran into a wooden house belonging to his brother. Armpit he realized that the little pig had escaped, the wolf grew wild.

“Come back!” he cried, trying to catch the pig when he ran into the wooden house. Another little pig welcomed to his brother with trembling and fear.

“I hope this house will not collapse! Let’s hold the door so he would not be exploited them!” The second little pig trying to survive.

It was true, when the wolf tried to destroy the wooden house, failed. But the wolf did not give up so easily. He then took a deep breath in and exhale more strongly.

“Whooooo … !!!!!!” The wooden house collapsed like a deck of cards.

Fortunately, the third little pig who had seen the incident from the window on the stone-brick home. He quickly opened the door to his brother who were escaping from the clutches of the evil wolf. Seeing the two pigs escaped and took refuge in the next house, the wolf ran to catch up.

This time, the wolf was in doubt. This house feels more powerful and robust than in the two houses which he had destroyed. The wolf tried to blow it once, twice, three times and so on, but all in vain. The house does not move even an inch. Seeing the wolf helplessness, fear they slowly began to fade.

Quite exhausted by his efforts, the wolf decided to try another way. He climbed the stairs nearby and intends entered the house through the chimney. However, a small pig to three already guessed wolves will enter through smoke pipe. Then he had a direct rushed to two brother told to light the fire in fire place to deter wolves entered.

When the wolf in through the chimney of the house, she slowly felt something warm on his tail. But because it is very hungry, he remained down the chimney. The deeper he crashed down in the smoke pipe, its tail was very hot and the smell of charred flesh. Sure enough it turns tail on fire. With tail on fire, wolf climbing in and out of the smoke pipe and then ran into the woods.

The third little pig was happy, dance around the yard, and began to sing. “Tra-la-la! Tra-la-la! Yey!” Wolves never back …!”

Of that terrible day, the two of little pigs said sorry to the third little pig who worked hard to build new home. They set up two houses made of bricks like his brother. The occasional wolf back to explore their yard, but when he saw the three chimneys, he recalled an incident when his tail on fire. he was scared and eventually went away. And the three little pig was living safely, and happily forever. The End.

” Mengapa repot-repot tentang makanan ?

Kemudian belalang menyadari : Lebih baik sedia payung sebelum hujan.

He ordered his twin sons to walk as far as they can and they had to return home before the sunset. It started with acne that showed up on my face. It was very annoying. It lowered my self-esteem and I was embarrassed to come out of my house and play with friends.

I persuaded my father to teach me to ride " Honda 75 ". Firstly, my father refused my request and promised that he would teach me two or three years later, but I still whimpered. Finally, my father surrendered and promised to teach me.

    Holiday in Pasir Kencana Beach
    ditulis oleh Muhammad Fadhil Immas

    THE FLOOD

One Christmas in 2007, I was joining a final test try out at school. It was held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. One of my schoolmates, Rini, asked me for accompanying her to the bus stop. When we arrived there, suddenly the heavy rain fell down from the sky. Rini suggested me to go home soon while she was entering the bus.

It was still raining when I was home. The rain did not stop and became bigger when the night had come. People were standing in front of their house, hoping that the flood would not come. In the middle of the night, I got news that South Purwodadi had been drowned.

The next day, Purwodadi had become a flood area. All activities were paralyzed. No one went for work or school because the land had been covered by flood. However, I thank God for not allowing the flood entered my house. Even my house had been changed into an emergency kitchen. It was so crowded there. I and my father took a walk around the center market and Central Purwodadi. All that we could see was water and water. At night, the flood looked like a beautiful ocean with the moonlight on it. I felt as if I was one of the passengers of Titanic who was sailing on the sea.

Finally, the flood was starting to decrease in the next morning. I and my family cleaned our front yard together. That was the greatest flood that I had ever experienced in my hometown.

Upon its completion, it surpassed the Washington Monument to assume the title of tallest man-made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years, until the Chrysler Building in New York City was built in 1930; however, due to the addition in 1957 of the antenna, the tower is now taller than the Chrysler Building. Not including broadcast antennas, it is the second-tallest structure in France after the 2004 Millau Viaduct.

The walk to the first level is over 300 steps, as is the walk from the first to the second level. The third and highest level is accessible only by elevator. Both the first and second levels feature restaurants.

The tower has become the most prominent symbol of both Paris and France, often in the establishing shot of films set in the city.

  65. A Wolf and A Dog

With hardly enough energy to walk, the wolf had little hope of finding food. As he lay beneath a large tree, a dog out for a walk noticed him. Seeing how thin and hungry-looking the wolf was, the dog felt sorry for him and said, "You are in terrible shape! You look as if you haven't eaten for many days."

"You're right," said the wolf. "I haven't eaten because you and your friends are doing such a good job of guarding the sheep. Now I am so weak that I have little hope of finding food. I think I will surely die."

Then why not join us? Asked the dog. "I work regularly and I eat regularly. You could do the same. I will arrange it. You can help me and the other dogs guard the sheep. In that way, we won't have to worry about your stealing the sheep any more and you won't have to worry about going hungry any more. It's a good deal for both of us."

The wolf thought it over for a few minutes and then decided that the dog was right. So they went off together toward the ranch house where the dog lived. But, as they were walking, the wolf noticed that the hair on a certain part of the dog's neck was very thin. He was curious about this, for the dog had such a beautiful coat every where else. Finally, he asked the dog about it.

"Oh, don't worry about that," said the dog. "It's the place where the collar rubs on my neck when my master chains me up at night."

"Chained up!" cried the wolf, "Do you mean that you are chained up at night? If I come to live with you, will I be chained up at night too?"

That's right," answered the dog. "But, You'll get used to it soon enough. I hardly think about it anymore."

"But, if I am chained up, then I won't be able to walk when I want to take a walk or to run where I want to run," the wolf said. "If I come to live with you, I won't be free anymore." After saying this, the wolf turned and ran away.

At once the cat ran to the nearest tree and climbed into its branches, well out of reach of any dog. 'This is the trick I told you about, the only one I know,' said the cat. The girl’s eye grew wide. “Then you must leave,” she said. “My father, the king, will kill you if he finds you here.”

“I want to marry you,” said the prince.
“But my father would never agree to it,” said the princess. “He would never let me marry a prince of the western Lands.”
“I’ll go and ask him anyway.” Said the prince, and he walked to the palace of the king of the Eastern lands.

“Are you sure it will be all right?” asked the princess. “Yes, but we must hurry.”
The princess wrapped her jewels and a beautiful fan in a length of silk. Then she took the prince’s hand, and together they ran towards the west, away from her father’s guards. In her hurry, the giant princess dropped her bundle. In the darkness, she was able to find her shiny jewelry, but not her fan. “I’ve lost my fan, my beautiful fan,” she cried.

  73. 11. The legend of Philippines
Many thousands of years ago, a man and his wife lived in the Philippines, they were called Angngalo and Angngarab.
One morning, they went to gather some shellfish. Inside one, they found a pearl. It was an unusual yellow colour and very large.
Angngalo gave it to Angngarab. “Oh!” she said, “I can find many more pearls than you!”
Soon they were quarrelling and shouting at each other. They ran along the seashore looking for shellfish. Before, they had a big pile in front of them. They pulled open the shells and looked in them for pearls.
“I’ve go more pearls than you!” shouted Angngalo.
“No, you haven’t!” answered Angngarab. “Anyway, my pearls are bigger than yours!”
Soon, they were fighting. They threw the shells and pearls at each other. (That is why there are so many shells and pearls in the Philippines) They rolled on the ground and stamped their feet.
There was aloud “Boom!” and “Crack!”. The mountains and hills began to split. The water in the rivers and lakes flooded the land.
They still continued fighting. Suddenly, there was a great storm, with thunder lighting. The land broke into several parts. Luzon was in the north, the Visayan Islands were in the middle, and Mindanao in the south.
Because of this, there are now over seven thousand islands in the Philippines.
    12. The Legend of Hongkong City
A long time ago, there was a village near Arberdeen called “Hong Kong Ts’un” or “Incense Harbour Village”. The incense grown there was famous throughout China. Some of it was even sent to the Chinese Emperor. Some people believe that the name Hong Kong comes from this village.
One day, the Emperor wanted some incense sent to him from the village. The villagers did not send it to him. The Emperor then ordered his officer to arrest the village headmen and cut off their heads. After that, everyone ran away from the village and no more incense was grown there.
But some other people believe that Hong Kong is named after a container for burning incense. Long, long ago, this container was picked up in the harbor. It was kept in a tample at Causeway Bay. The place where it was found was called “Hong Kong” or “Incense Harbour”
There is a third story that Hong Kong is named after a woman called Hong ku. She was the wife of a pirate chief. After her husband died, she became the leader of the pirates. She then moved to the island which is now called Hong Kong. If this story is true, the name “Hong kong” means “Hong’s Harbour”.
According to yet another story, Hong Kong is named after a stream near Pokfulan Road. The water was very pleasant to drink. Many years ago, people used to go there to collect drinking water. The stream was called “Hong Kong” or “sweet stream”.

The mausoleum is a part of a vast complex comprising of a main gateway, an elaborate garden, a mosque, a guest house, and several other palatial buildings. The Taj stands on a raised, square platform (186 x 186 feet) with its four corners truncated, forming an unequal octagon. The architectural design uses the interlocking arabesque concept, in which each element stands on its own and perfectly integrates with the main structure. It uses the principles of geometry and a symmetry of architectural elements.

Its central dome is fifty-eight feet in diameter and rises to a height of 213 feet. It is flanked by four subsidiary domed chambers. The four graceful, slender minarets are 162.5 feet each. The central domed chamber and four adjoining chambers include many walls and panels of Islamic decoration.

Taj Mahal is built entirely of white marble. Its stunning architectural beauty is beyond adequate description, particularly at dawn and sunset. The Taj seems to glow in the light of the full moon. On a foggy morning, the visitors experience the Taj as if suspended when viewed from across the Jamuna river.

Jacques is very outgoing. He is always friendly and loves to have fun. He’s got a fantastic sense of humour and he always makes me laugh. However, he can be a bit immature at times. For example, when he doesn’t get what he wants, he acts childishly and stamps his feet.
Jacques is very keen on water sports. He likes sailing and he spends a lot of time on his boat. He enjoys scuba diving, too, and loves exploring life under sea.
All in all, I’m glad to have Jacques as my friend. It’s a pleasure to be with him and I really enjoy his company. I’m sure we’ll always be close friends.passionate outlook on life.

    THE FLOOD
    Ditulis oleh Afifah Tri Hyuanawati

We took pictures of the beautiful scanery there. After that, we took a rest and had lunch under a big tree. Before we got home, we went to the zoo at Wonokromo. We went home in the afternoon.

    Visiting Bali
The next stop was Celuk, a cente for silversmiths and goldensmiths. After that he stopped a little while for lunch at Sukawati and on to mass. Mass is a tourist center My friend ten-day-stay ended very quickly beside his two tour, all his day was spent on the beach. He went sailing or surfboarding every day. He was quiet satisfied.

The Eiffel Tower is an iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Mars in Paris. Built in 1889, it has become both a global icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. The tower is the tallest building in Paris and the most-visited paid monument in the world; millions of people ascend it every year. Named for its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel, the tower was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair.

The tower stands 324 metres (1,063 ft) tall, about the same height as an 81-story building.

The tower has three levels for visitors. Tickets can be purchased to ascend, by stairs or lift, to the first and second levels. The walk to the first level is over 300 steps, as is the walk from the first to the second level. The third and highest level is accessible only by elevator. Both the first and second levels feature restaurants.

The tower has become the most prominent symbol of both Paris and France, often in the establishing shot of films set in the city.

  113. Cerita Rakyat Tanah Jawa

Rasa benci Galoran sedemikian dalamnya, sampai tega merencanakan pembunuhan anak tirinya sendiri. "Jangan begitu kak, Jambean hanya sekedar mengingatkan agar kakak mau bekerja" demikian usaha sang istri meredakan amarahnya. "Ah .. omong kosong.

The Elephant
The elephants are herbivores and eat all types of vegetation such as grasses, leaves, and fruits. They have almost hairless skin, four legs, and a distinctive long, flexible, prehensile trunk. The elephants which is also known as the largest of all land mammals usually live in groups consisting of adult female elephant as the leader of the group, their children and their relative female elephants.
The elephants also have very sharp auditory because they have big and wide ears. By these ears, they can hear sounds from a distance about tens kilometer. At the back of the ears, they have one of the softest parts of their body which is called the knuckle. In a zoo, Mahouts (elephant trainers) use their feet to steer or give commands to the animal via tha knuckle. Now, they are a kind of protected animals because their population remains little in their habitat. Their population began to decline year by year.

  120. BEING LATE
Last morning, Dinar, my roommate woke up late and she had to go to campus.
When she wanted to take her motorcycle, in fact she couldn’t move it because there were some motorcycles that blocked up her motorcycle.
She tried to move all of the motorcycles, so that her motorcycle could move from the garage. But she couldn’t do it.
Then, she called Adel who had that motorcycle which blocked it up. After that, her friend who had that motorcycle helped her. Finally, she could move her motorcycle and rode it to go to campus.
    Holiday in Pasir Kencana Beach

    Holiday in Semirang Waterfall

    MY VERY BUSY DAY
Last Monday was a busy day for me.

  122. Watching Movie
    2. Travelling Around The World
Deri saved his money and spent two months traveling around the world. He wrote his journey in his diary.
I spent a week in New York and then flew to London and enjoyed several weeks in Europe.
When I had seen the sights in Europe, I took a train to Istanbul and visited many places in Asia.
First, I flew from his home in Mexico City to New York City. After through Asia, I went to south America and finally back home to Indonesia.
Deri felt tired but he was very excited and wanted to travel again.
    3. Going to School
After a walk of about 700 metres I would be able to see the tall steeple of the
    school.
The playground would be full in the summer and the noise would make me want to rush into the yard and get into a good game of football before the bell
    went.
    4. My Great Day of Proposing Girl
I woke up at about five o’clock yesterday. It wasn’t a regular day, because I was about to propose a girl.
After praying and taking a bath, I had my early breakfast. At about nine o’clock I was in my office but my soul wasn’t there. I was thinking about the lines that I had to say to her.
At one o’clock, I had my lunch but I wasn’t enjoying it either. So, I practiced the lines to almost all girls I met at my lunch. Yes, I was a little bit crazy. Finally, it was three o’clock. I remembered all my lines. I wrapped my works and got ready to pick her up and of course proposed her.
I met her at four o’clock, took a little walk and went to a movie. At seven, we had a romantic dinner. I thought it was the perfect time to ask her to be my wife. Then I said the lines that I practiced the whole afternoon.
She smiled. I reached my pocket to get a ring and put it around her finger. Then she said “Yes.” After driven her home I went back to my house.
    5. My Bad Day on Sunda
I had a terrible day yesterday.
First, I woke up an hour late because my alarm clock didn’t go off. Then, I was in such a hurry that I burned my hand when I was making breakfast. After breakfast, I got dressed so quickly that I forgot to wear socks.
Next, I ran out of the house trying to get the 9:30 bus, but of course I missed it. I wanted to take a taxi, but I didn’t have enough money.
Finally, I walked the three miles to my school only to discover that it was Sunday!
I hope I never have a day as the one I had yesterday.
